More information

Borrowing
You can only borrow material from the library using a valid library card. The library card gives the holder rights in principle to borrow material from all the library sections that are open to the public. You cannot borrow material from the adult section using a (free) youth or young person’s card if the material is clearly not intended for your own use (see point 2 under membership).
The cardholder must ensure that any material he or she returns is registered as having been returned.

Borrowed material must be returned to the library it was borrowed from. If it is returned to another library some costs will be charged to you.
The cardholder is obliged to pay any administrative costs for material that is returned late. Costs for late material (the ‘fine’) are charged from the first day after the date on which the material is required to be returned. The costs are charged per item/per calendar day.

You are required to report the loss of any borrowed material.
The cardholder is required to pay for any lost materials on the basis of a calculation provided by the library. The regulations concerning the levels of payment for lost materials can be obtained at Customer Service. The director or his/her representative is entitled to withhold the library card in cases where the ‘fine' or payment for lost materials has not be received. The card will be returned when the outstanding payment has been made.
Books and slides can be borrowed at no cost.

Audiovisual material can be borrowed free from the youth section (borrowing period three weeks). Audiovisual material borrowed from other sections is not free. You will be issued with a receipt when you borrow material from the central library or from some of the larger branches. At other branches you can stamp the date of return on a card.

The borrowing period for audiovisual material and music scores can only be extended at the library. Other material can be renewed on the telephone during opening hours. The borrowing period for all materials can only be renewed twice. Material cannot be renewed if it has been reserved by another member of the library. You can reserve any material you require if it is not available when you first require it. You will receive notification of the availability of any materials reserved, or if they are not available. Reservation costs will not returned in cases where the required material are not be available.
