Is the OBA open?

As of Friday 13 March 2020, all offices of the OBA will be temporarily closed. The closure of public locations is a government measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Follow the messages on our website www.oba.nl or our social media channels for any new information.

Are events at the OBA still taking place?

All activities at the OBA offices have been cancelled until at least 6 April.

Will I get my money back for cancelled events?

Yes, if you have already purchased a ticket for an OBA event that is being cancelled, then you will receive an e-mail from us and be refunded. This may be different for activities that were to take place at the OBA but are organised by a different organisation. In that case, we advise you to contact that organisation.

What about pending reservations?

Reservations that are already ready to be picked up will stay at the OBA. You can pick them up as soon as the relevant OBA branch is open again.

I still have books or other items from the OBA in my possession for which the loan period is about to expire. What now?

We have automatically extended the loan period and will not issue fines during the period that all OBA offices are closed. You can keep all materials in your possession until the OBA reopens. 

Fines you had not yet paid on Friday 13 March are unaffected.

If, in the meantime, you receive a notification that any loan period will expire, you can extend it online via the OBA app or www.oba.nl/login. If this does not work, please contact our customer service at klantenservice@oba.nl or 020 - 523 09 00.

Will I be fined now that I cannot return my books?

No, as long as all offices are closed, you will not be fined for the books and other items you currently have in your possession. Is the lending period about to expire and are you unable to extend it via the OBA app or our website via www.oba.nl/login? Then report to the customer service desk once the OBA is open again. We will then remove the fine from your card.

I really want to borrow a book, especially now. What can I do?

We understand! You can still use our online services. We have a range for both members and non-members that consists of 28,000 e-books, audiobooks, podcasts, and much more to help everyone get through this period. Go to oba.nl/online to see the complete range. 

What about pending reservations?

Can I reserve books or other items now?

No, you cannot place new reservations at this time. This will be possible once it becomes clear when the OBA offices can reopen. Follow the messages on this website or our social media for any new information.

logging in

I want to use the online services but I am unable to log in. What now?

This may be because you have not yet paid for your membership or a fine. Go to oba.nl/online and look for the heading ‘Nog te betalen bedragen’. Once you have paid the outstanding amount, you can use our online services. If this does not work, please contact our customer services via klantenservice@oba.nl or 020 - 523 09 00.
